Malta’s February Carnival

I remember being somewhat overwhelmed when we came across these luridly-coloured floats quite by chance in Valletta, Malta, way back in February 2013. They were part of the week-long carnival that takes place on Malta and Gozo in the same month every year and dates back to the 1400s. There is music and dancing, elaborate costumes and large, colourful floats passing through the streets along with thousands of people.
